Gratitude...

Give thanks with a grateful heart.
Give thanks, to the Holy one.
I know I am suppose to give thanks. Do I give thanks from a grateful heart, or do I give thanks because it is required of me.  I often give thanks out of habit without giving much thought to whom I am thankful to or for what I am thankful for.   I go through my day shooting up arrow prayers of thanks. I know that is not wrong, but is my thanks sincere?  Am I just giving lip service to the Lord.  He knows my heart.  Am I truly grateful or just thankful, is there a difference?  I need to be mindful when I pray my thankful prayers. I am offering them up to a sovereign, righteous, gracious, generous Lord who gives me an abundance of blessings.  He deserves my WHOLE HEART  and MIND of gratitude.
A great challenge for me today.

Mad about burlap

I found these cute photos on Pinterest.  Since fall arrives this weekend, in name only, at least where I live. I will "fall-up" my home.  I would decorate my front porch, but my neighbors would fall over laughing.  Having fall deco outside while the weather is still this warm opens me to public ridicule and my ego is a bit too fragile for that  :)... Happy fall to you all.

My kitchen table is just screaming for this.  I have tons of burlap and baskets and a fall tablecloth.

I have pinecones, burlap and will add some fall plaid ribbon.  I will make my house look like fall even if the weather outsides says differently.

Making progess...2 down.

Slow and steady.  This is all taking more time than I thought it would.  I didn't take a picture of the finished cake.  I bought the cake from Costco to save time.
The cake.  The snake and rocks are made from rice krispy treats.

I am not totally in love with the wreath, not sure if I should add the flowers all the way around. I quite making flowers because I burnt the dickins out of my finger. I think a cute plaid ribbon to hang it from will be cute though.

HOME ALONE

When the cats away, the mouse will play.  My hubby left this morning EARLY for a week long fishing trip.  I made sure I had plenty to keep me busy while he is gone.  I made a trip to Costco to stock up on some nourishment, and by that I mean chocolate to keep me going.  If I can accomplish even 2 these projects I will be thrilled.  You can bet I will post pictures.

I have great plans for the adorable fabric.

Make a 6 month onesie for my granddaughter from this cutie.

I will complete this fall wreath that I started about a month ago.

But first up.... decorate a birthday cake for the party tomorrow.  All of this will become a snake.  I am not quite sure how these thing will become a snake, but it will.  ( I hope).
Seeing all these projects together seems a bit overwhelming.  Oh, and if I get extra time, I plan to paint a television stand. No, I am not an overachiever. I just like to stay busy.

Happy almost birthday

Papa will be gone on Micah's actual birthday. He wanted to celebrate before he left because he was going to miss his party.  Micah chose pizza, cantalope, and chocolate cupcakes for dinner.  This is our almost birthday party festivities.
The birthday banners.

That's right,  He's 5.  I still choose to believe otherwise.

He decorated his cupcake.

Sprinkles and candles.

He wanted to open his present with his eyes closed so that he could be surprised.

Blowing out the candles.

Happy almost birthday sweet boy.
Gramma and Papa sure love you.

Rainy walk

I looked out the window and noticed it was pouring rain.  A perfect opportunity to make a memory with my grandson.  We put on our shoes, I grabbed the umbrellas and off we went on our rainy walk.
"Gramma, where did you get this kid size umbrella?"

"It's just my size.  I call this thing a shield protector from the rain."

And we have to be silly.  Our walk was great.  We were both very sad when the brief rain was over. I love these spontaneous moments, they are such a gift.

Labor Day

My family is coming for dinner tonight.  I will spend the evening with my sons, my daughters in law , grandson and my granddaughter.  Turtle browies just had to served on this green depression glass plate. It was my mom's.  She gave it to me when she moved several years ago, I love it and use it often.  See how pretty the brownies look on it? ( humor me please).  I think that any time family can be together is cause for celebration and yummy things served on pretty dishes.
Turtle brownies.  I am not sure why they are called turtle brownies.  I am sure, however, that I love them.

Notice the cow in the background.  The one with the red scarf, she has an attitude.  I was able to find the sugar and creamer to match my cows. I am very happy about this and am deeply mooooovvved.  They will be arriving soon.   Hope your Labor day was restful and full of what you love.
